Horror Short Review: Caregiver (2023)

It takes a special kind of person to be a caregiver, and it’s something writer and director Rafael De Leon Jr. explores with Caregiver. A horror short that stars Tara Rose Schreiber, Leo DeFriend, and Bryce Craver.

A graduate student named Troy is interviewing a volunteer caregiver named Nora for his class project. The latter has been volunteering to help the senior community, all while caring for her father, and the former wants to know more about her decision to help others.

Troy tries to ask Nora questions but keeping her focused on what he is asking is not easy, especially as every so often, she says something that doesn’t sound quite right.

This is one you don’t want spoiled for you, so if you want to see what happens next, check it out below. It’s a worthwhile watch as the creepy vibes are strong and its payoff is deliciously dark. Credit to the actors who really give this their all and make every second count. Impressive, when you consider it’s only around four minutes in length.

It sure does take a special kind of person to be a caregiver.
