EP Review: Gom Jabber | Pissing Contest – Gom Jabber | Pissing Contest (Morbid and Miserable Records)
A two-track split EP from two experimental noisegrind bands, Gom Jabber and Pissing Contest. This release lands on August 18th, 2023, via Morbid and Miserable Records.
Two tracks long, one track each, both passing the nine-minute mark, and both showcasing experimental horrible noise. This split EP is not for everyone, that much should be made clear from the start.
Who it is for, is for people who like the sound of chaos and destruction. Music that really shouldn’t be called music because there is f**k all musical about it. The epitome of carnage, highly experimental, unique in nature, and exceptionally nasty. There’s no understanding what both Gom Jabber and Pissing Contest are going for here because they are enigmas.
Mysterious, complex, and frustrating.
Does that mean the split is a waste of time? Of course not. All of that just makes this release quite appealing. Don’t you want to know what it sounds like? What the experience is like? How both bands variation on noise and grind sounds? That temptation might be the end of your last brain cells, but at least you’ll know.
They are two inimitable bands, that much is for sure, and offer different experiences while having abrasiveness, malice, and revulsion in common. Make up your own mind on this one.
