Album Review: Caskets – Reflections (SharpTone Records)

Alternative rock, post-hardcore tinged metal band Caskets return with their sophomore album, Reflections. A record that looks at the wider picture of Caskets as a whole. Out on August 11th, 2023, via SharpTone Records.

The rise that Caskets have had is so startling, it’s actually surprising that they have managed to keep their feet on the ground. Especially to such a stage where they can release an album that reflects on the band as a whole. Their inner workings, the ups and downs they have had, their triumphs and failures, and so much more. It’s the most exposed they have ever been, and it certainly shows they take nothing for granted.

Though, don’t presume that means its a miserable record, that’s not the case. What it is, is honest and that is showcased through the inimitable anthemic power of their alternative rock and post-hardcore infused sound. Reflections has ten heavyweight bangers that can make you move, head-bang, and shed a tear or two over. It oozes emotion but can be thoroughly enjoyed in a bubble as something extremely accessible.

Everyone can enjoy a bit of Caskets; it is what they do and why their breakthrough debut album ‘Lost Souls’ has had over 100 million streams. One listen of Reflections, and it’s clear this follow-up is going to have the same impact, if not more. It has the band hitting even bigger highs, delving into melodious lows, sounding energised, delivering characteristic emotion, and undeniably memorable choruses.

Caskets are a charismatic band, and their music is inherently addictive, even when they feature such powerful themes and feelings. Through their music, what they offer across the Reflections runtime, they connect to their listeners on a deeper and more profound level. Each track has its own powerful tone and its own reason to love it. It’s difficult to recommend specific tracks as the Caskets experience is one of individualism. What one person takes from one track; another might take from a different one. The joy being to find out what resonates with you, while thoroughly enjoying the melody, groove, energy, and anthemic qualities of the overall thing.

It’s a special album from a special band, who were always going to struggle to meet the expectations of fans after such a successful debut album. They’ve aimed high, opened themselves up, and released a follow-up that will satisfy all.
