One of the newest bands on the Bloodstock 2023 bill, Ambrius might only have existed since 2022 but it contains members of Bloodstock Metal to the Masses regional winners, Tempestora & Oakhaart.

You’re going to want to get up early for this one on the Saturday of the festival, Ambrius f**king rawk!

Hailing from Gloucester, Ambrius combine massive symphonic sounds with hyperactive heavy metal. Creating an anthemic sound, with infectious choruses, and non-stop reasons to head-bang. The size and scope of their creative vision is absolutely stunning, and their focus is bright and brilliant. How many other bands release a full EP the same year they officially form?

When we reviewed the EP in 2022, we said that you should:

Expect the unexpected and you’ll have some small idea of what Ambrius are bringing to the metal table with this debut EP. A hearty and meaty plate of steaming heavy metal with mouth-watering side dishes of dark orchestral melodies, symphonic grandiosity, and progressive morsels. It takes some getting used too but once the palette has experienced it, there’s no denying the unique and moreish flavour.

Guess what? We, and many others have dining on this for over a year now and it just keeps tasting fresher and fresher.

Enough food analogies though, because you better skip breakfast or get up even earlier to make sure you see Ambrius when they open the Sophie Lancaster stage on the Saturday of the festival. It is going to be epic. Don’t take our word for it though, we spoke to them about what it means to play the festival, what Bloodstock means to them, and what attendees can expect from their show. They had this to say:

As regular attendees to Bloodstock Festival, for us to be given the opportunity to play Bloodstock 2023 Saturday August 12th on The Sophie Lancaster Stage is absolutely an incredible honour for every single member of Ambrius.

We’re all massive supporters of The Sophie Lancaster Foundation, so for us to be able to play on that stage is a huge life achievement for us.

We’ve also got some great friends of ours playing this year, we highly recommend catching sets from Embodiment, Tribe Of Ghosts, The Enigma Division, Skora, Fury, The list goes on and on!!

What attendees can expect from our show will be us performing our latest release ‘Effigies Of Time’ in its entirety! ‘EOT’ released a year ago on July 15th 2022, the support we’ve had from our fans has been breathtaking. We want to give back to those people who has supported us since the beginning with our performance at Bloodstock!

We hope to do you all proud!

The work that the Bloodstock team does for the underground Metal scene is incomparable!
It’s so nice to see bands always progressing from winning a regional M2TM competition and playing the New Blood Stage, to playing the Sophie Stage, to then playing the Ronnie James Dio Stage.

Bloodstock is a home from home to us, it really is the most wonderful place! There’s never any trouble, I have been attending since 2010 and I’ve never once seen any trouble! Everyone is there to let their hair down with a few drinks, to have a great time with great music, and with amazing company!
