Bloodstock 2023 takes place from August 10th to August 13th. Across 4 stages, the festival boasts an incredible line-up that includes headliners Killswitch Engage, Meshuggah, and Megadeth. As always, we will be featuring some of the bands that will be playing this year’s festival. Giving you a rundown of who they are, what they’ve released, and what you can expect come August.

Are you ready to get your head crushed, your bones broken, and your soul rendered? All with a big smile on your face throughout? Then you’re ready for Swarms. You better be, because Swarms are ready for you.

Crawling out of the abandoned coal mines of County Durham, Swarms bring the chugs in spades!

The Newcastle Metal 2 the Masses events have produced some banging bands over the years and this year is no different. Swarms have the riffs, the groove, the breakdowns, and the heavy fun for days. It’s a pity we only get to experience 30 minutes of them at Bloodstock, but hey, it’s going to be a blast regardless.

A handful of singles (For the Righteous, Vital, Not Safe Anymore, Copperhead), alongside strong live performances has left Swarms with a ton of goodwill. As they build towards playing Bloodstock and the release of their debut EP ‘Coaldust’ (expected later this year), they plan to pay that off by bringing their very best to the festival.

The New Blood stage on the Saturday of the festival is where you can find Swarms. We have a strong feeling that the tent might be a bit chaotic for their set. Don’t take our word for it though, we spoke to them about what it means to play the festival, what Bloodstock means to them, and what attendees can expect from their show. They had this to say:

Having the opportunity to play Bloodstock honestly means so much to us! To be able to represent the North East and the growing metal scene in the area is incredible. All work we’ve put in to putting the set together and putting up with each others farts in a confined space wasn’t in vain.

This is the first time at the festival for us and a lot of our favourite bands are on the line up! Is still surreal that we’re getting to play alongside them! We’re dropping 2 new tracks on this month before the festival to get you all warmed up! They’ll be on all the usual music streaming services!

Fat riffs and heavy breakdowns are on the agenda on Saturday when we play! Be prepared for all of that karate shit in the pit. Bring your dancing shoes. If you’re a fan of knocked loose like we are then it’ll be the perfect warm up!
