EP Review: Noosed – Omen (Self Released)
Those noise/grind/crust/sludge mongers Noosed are back with a brand-new EP. It’s called ‘Omen,’ it features four tracks and an intro, and it’s out now!
Now, while we may not be complete strangers to the horrible sounds that Noosed create, we’re still always taken back by the force in which they hit with. Their world view is reflective of the intensity they come with, and their genre-melding is as outrageous as it sounds. All of this, and more, is present on Omen. An EP that gets in, f**ks you up, and gets out.
A short intro designed to make you feel uneasy leads to the two short examples of Noosed’s frenzied grind and crust side. Both the title track and No Hope No Cure are garish and grim sounding, calling to a feral beast in all of us.
Then Noosed change direction, sort of, with two longer and more elaborate efforts called Wage Slave and Hollow. Both can be simply summed up as filth. Sludgy and heavy filth. A pair of slow-burn efforts that, when paired with the other two tracks, showcase the variety Noosed has in their music.
It won’t make you feel good, but that’s kind of the point.
