1. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to chat to us. First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started.

We are a band that dwells mostly in experimental rock / art rock genre, with a twist. We think 2010 is the year where LunariaN was really born after several changes in the past. We had released an EP in 2011 called Experimental Thinking through Phoenixx Records in Manchester-UK, performing from stage to stage in a few cities in Indonesia, before for some reason we had to pause in 2014. Last year we picked up the pace again, finished our first album which will be out this May, while releasing 1 song each month since January. Currently we’re planning a small tour to promote it after its release.

2. Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?

We always say that you can try to imagine a mix of Bloc Party or SoaD’s guitar riffs, the eerie Radiohead’s Amnesiac ambience, and Devin Townsend’s eccentricity into one, and then add some splash of European traditional music and underlying quirky electronic sound.

3. What’s currently going on in your camp? New releases? Tours? Etc.

We have been releasing 1 song each month since January. April will be the last single for this album, and the album itself will be out in May. Currently we’re planning a small tour to promote it after its release.

4. What has been the most positive experience of making music to date for you?

Definitely the creative process and the friends we make along the way.

5. Likewise, what has been some of the more challenging aspects and how have you overcome them?

As a band that still handles almost everything, managing and allocating assignments have proven to be very challenging, and all that while still looking for a manager and a team. We always meet at least every week, to rehearse and talk about things that we have to do during the following week, It has proven to be the best way for us now while we’re still on our own.

6. How do you handle the modern expectations of being in a band? Always online, having to put out content constantly, your success measured in likes and follows?

We do not focus on the number of contents, we prefer to focus on out music and performances, although if we keep doing what we’re doing, there will always be something to show. All those modern measurement bars like likes and follows are not things we have in our head. What we produce is the music so better not to be “contaminated” with visual validations. We are placing it in our list of main things to do, when we have a team, hopefully in the near future.

7. What’s something that really ‘grinds your gears’ about the industry/business these days and what would you propose is done to combat it?

Oddly enough it’s not about the industry, they will always aim to make money, which we would care about when we’re in a direct contact with the doers. It’s more about the listeners and the musicians themselves, who bend the knee to what’s being fed by the media. And there are 2 things about this: firstly, wouldn’t it be beautiful if we’re still actively looking for good quality music, which often hidden under the big promoted names. And secondly, so many messages in music now are just something that aims to sell false principles by glorifying what seems to take sides with the listeners, but it’s just selling raunchy sects – contradictive, but the listeners are often not able to see the dichotomy.

8. Speaking directly to listeners – what would you ask they do to help support your music?

Take a listen, watch it on Youtube, and if you like it, tell your friends, come to our shows.

9. Outside of the music, what’s do you do to relax?

Drinking is always a good way to relax! Besides, aside from doing music, each of us is still working, so we just relax like how other people relax.

10. Where can people find you?

Show yourselves to one of these!
