EP Review: Trendkill – Dissociate (Self Released)
Groovy, thrashy, and heavy metal from the North of England, Trendkill have made one hell of a name for themselves with banger singles and raucous live shows. Now, they have released their new EP, Dissociate.
Trendkill are an awesome band, but if by chance you needed you needed further convincing of that statement, we have this new EP. A four-track release filled with heart-racing and head-banging heaviness. From the very start, with the furious title track, it’s quite clear that the intent of this EP is to smash heads and break necks. Something Trendkill do with incredible ease thanks to their impressive talents.
The riffs are filthy, the percussion is meaty, the hooks will tear through the soft parts of the flesh, and the vocals are scathing. A familiar combination for metal, but done at such a high level, it stands out from the pack.
If you’re not absolutely sold with the opener, then the following track, Covenant, and the thrilling sharpness of Trendkill’s groove will do the job. It’s ferocious music with an exceptionally addictive rhythm section.
Then there is Ereasure, a snarling and feral sounding beast that has Trendkill sounding even wilder. Even while they layer in remarkable moments of melody. Before this EP of the year contender is closed out with the mighty Berserkr. A track liable to give you serious neck ache that you’ll feel for a few days afterwards. Worth it though as the thrash mayhem that comes right at the end of this track is just so good.
We told you, Trendkill are an awesome band.
