Band Interview: Lieder Distortion
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life bring you an interview with symphonic/opera rock band, Lieder Distortion.
1. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to chat to us. First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started.
Lieder Distortion want to take classical music, written by Mozart, Schubert, Vivaldi and others and make them the way we wanted to hear them. When we studied classical music at the Academy of Opera, we always thought in the middle of a Schubert song or similar: “Here the guitars should come in, here the drums should start playing the crash cymbal, etc..
Lieder Distortion have been working on this album together with Swedish and Italian musicians since the day we dropped out of the Academy of Opera.
2. Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?
Opera rock/symphonic rock. Music that is more than 100 years old.
3. What’s currently going on in your camp? New releases? Tours? Etc.
New single March 24th . A very famous classical piece of music.
4. What has been the most positive experience of making music to date for you?
With Lieder Distortion: to be satisfied with something recorded. We work as freelance live musicians in classical music and rock music otherwise and it is something completely different to record music.
5. Likewise, what has been some of the more challenging aspects and how have you overcome them?
Redo and do more right, redo and do more right…
6. How do you handle the modern expectations of being in a band? Always online, having to put out content constantly, your success measured in likes and follows?
We are not too fond of always having to show something off. Sometimes you have to focus and shut out the outside world to do something amazing. We’re not that productive, the album we’re about to release has taken years to make.
7. What’s something that really ‘grinds your gears’ about the industry/business these days and what would you propose is done to combat it?
It’s not always the person who talks the most who has the most to say… I’m not a fan of posting things and shouting all the time to be heard.
8. Speaking directly to listeners – what would you ask they do to help support your music?
Play the music for a friend who you think might appreciate it.
9. Outside of the music, what’s do you do to relax?
Being out in nature, reading books and brewing mead.
10. Where can people find you?
