Band Interview: Blood of Angels
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life bring you an interview with melodic death/thrash metal band, Blood of Angels.
1. How did you get started as a band?
We began in 2015 as my former band was ending. We have been friends for many years in the Tampa, Florida music scene. We finally were available to come together as a band. It has been a great relationship since.
2. How would you describe your sound?
I think the label melodic death metal works for us. Some critics call us death/thrash metal. I am fine with that as well.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
We are influenced by Slayer, Dark Tranquillity, Slipknot, Pantera, and Amon Amarth.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
This band didn’t exist before streaming. As far as growing a fan base it has really helped us. As far as financially, bands don’t make anything from recorded music unless you’re a pop star like the Weekend. You only get paid .001 cent. So you have to get a thousand streams to make 1.00 USD. I think Doyle said it best, saying that he feels like a glorified t-shirt salesman.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
I love to travel with my wife. I am an avid hiker. I enjoy video games and reading.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We just released a new single titled “Spillage.” We are on a break for the rest of the year. We will get back together after New Years and start writing and recording our next album for our new label Biohazardous Records.
