1. How did you get started as a band?

Wacken Open Air, VIP camp, I’m hanging out with Noa Gruman singer of Scardust, I casually ask her what she’s up to, she says she’s releasing an album with her band and starting a choir that would focus on Metal. This sparked something in me. I had songs laying around for years in the metal genre and with my then indie band broken up, I decided to revive my relationship with the genre I love. Fast forward a few years, several amazing releases, dozens of shows and thousands of people and here we are! Oceans on Orion, releasing another single before the debut album drops early 2023.

2. How would you describe your sound?

We’re a mixture of solid song writing, 80’s golden era vocal harmony and modern djent inspired break downs. It’s wonderfully weird and polished. Our guitarist Sergei (Formerly of Desert) dubbed it, “Glam-Core” much to the laughter of all involved.

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

There are truly too many to count. For me personally, it’s Dio, The Police, 30 Seconds to Mars, Skid Row and an uncountable plethora of others.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

Well, it’s the reality these days. I think it’s made music far more difficult to monetize and set the barrier to “being seen” pretty high. Reality is without substantial expenses on digital marketing, posting a video on youtube is bit like screaming into the void.

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

I love long distance running, Rock climbing, acting, directing and shooting videos. Thankfully all these are very useful for music as well.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

The band at the moment is gearing up towards our debut album release. Me personally, I’m 7 songs deep into the next Oceans on Orion album, slated for 2024. It’s going to be quite the ride!
