EP Review: Melted Bodies – The Inevitable Fork Vol. 1 (Self Released)
Known in the LA underground for their chaotic, energetic, and unpredictable live shows. Melted Bodies are following up their 2020 debut album ‘Enjoy Yourself’ with ‘The Inevitable Fork’. This album, comprised of three unique EPs, will see Vol. 1 released on November 25th, 2022.
A discordant style of metal that is chaotic intensity personified, Melted Bodies combine industrial and electronica with barely contained metal rage. Their music can be quite uncomfortable and certainly polarising but the genre-bending is incredibly admirable. Especially when a track will shift and shimmer so naturally, you’re left agape by how obvious it seems. Of course, this was how it was going to sound! Forget pre-conceived conceptions of genres, this is not the Melted Bodies way.
It certainly makes for a unique listen as there’s no expectations of what might come next across the four tracks of this EP. Just compare the title track and the following Think Safe. The same band? Apparently so! Baffling stuff but, importantly, extremely interesting stuff. Even if you’re not too sure if, musically, it’s for you, you will keep on listening on just to hear what madness comes next.
What will you find? Even more unexpected and unusual examples of genre-bending in the form of Liars and Therapy. Frenzied electronica blended with metal intensity, the structure of these tracks prove once and for all that Melted Bodies are on another level when it comes to imagination.
