13 Days of Halloween: Horror Q&A: Total Recall

Total Recall was born in 2019. Veterans in the hardcore/metalcore scene, they decided to start to write music together after their common friend and brother Massy passed away after a long fight with his disease. They play a blend of low tuned metallic hardcore with post hardcore influences and some old nu-metal vibes.

Their latest album ‘Always Together’ is out now and in November they will be out on tour across the UK and EU.

1. Happy Halloween! Tell us, what is your perfect Halloween night?

Happy Halloween to you as well. Our perfect Halloween night would be on stage performing a show. It’s one of our priorities for 2023.

2. What is the perfect Halloween horror to put on?

The original Halloween of course.

3. In our best Ghostface voice – what’s your personal favourite scary movie and why?

I don’t have a particular one. Again Halloween is one of them, also Nightmare on Elm Street. I grew up with Freddy.

4. What’s your earliest memory of seeing a horror movie?

I was probably 8/9 years old at my cousins place. They put on A Nightmare on Elm Street, after that it was just love. I was always begging my mom to take me to the video store to rent horror movies.

5. Have you ever experienced something unusual or unexplainable in real life?

Not really, the only thing that comes to mind was hearing my late grandmothers voice out of nowhere once.

6. What’s the best modern horror you’ve seen recently?

Not a big fan but if I have to pick I would say It Follows. Has the right kind of weirdness.

7. What is your favourite type of horror?

Slasher.

8. What’s a horror cliché that you just can’t stand?

Moving a family into a creepy old house in the middle of nowhere.

9. Freddy, Michael or Jason? Who is your favourite and why?

That’s a tough one, I love them all. But Michael Myers is the one, I love everything about him. He is the boogieman, pure and simply evil.

10. 70s sleaze or 80s cheese. What’s your poison and why?

80’s cheese any day.

11. Would you rather: spend a night in 112 Ocean Avenue (Amityville) or Hill House (The Haunting/The Haunting of Hill House)?

Amityville.

12. Would you rather: ‘play a game’ (Saw) or be ‘shown such sights’ (Hellraiser)?

Pinhead always terrified me when I was a kid but also fascinated me. So I’m in.

13. Would you rather: have a good guy doll (Chucky) or an Annabelle doll (Annabelle/The Conjuring)?

I never watched the Conjuring so Chucky.

14. Would you rather: be stuck in the Burkittsville, Maryland woods (Blair Witch) or stuck in the caves of the Appalachian Mountains (The Descent)?

I’m a big fan of BWP and I love the woods so…

15. Would you rather: be hunted by the Predator or by the Alien?

I’ll be Arnold.

16. What character would you be in a traditional slasher movie (the nerd, the jock, the cheerleader, the final girl etc)?

The one that dies first.
