Band Interview: Gloria Volt
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with Fredi Volvo (vocals) of hard rock band, Gloria Volt.
1. How did you start as a band?
We’ve all played in different bands before. From punk rock to pop rock and stonerpunk, everything was there. But when these formations had all dissolved, a new formation emerged that wanted to celebrate the pure rock/hard rock: Gloria Volt!
2. How would you describe your sound?
Rock/Hard rock as you have been playing it for decades.
3. Which bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
I would say that we all like the Cult, which is certainly our common denominator. Of course, you can also hear a little AC/DC, which is never wrong anyway. For me, however, The Hellacopters remain the best troupe that has ever grazed on God’s green earth.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
For smaller bands like us, music streaming has certainly helped us. You can listen to our music all over the world, which would not have been possible in the past with simple record sales.
5. What do you like to do when you’re not making music?
I recently discovered this yellow, hoppy drink. It’s called beer, fantastic I can say! I love football, and when I find time I go to the stadium and watch our FC Winterthur!
6. What are your musical plans for the future? Tours?
Next our EP will be released, then we hope for some good shows. Then we will see again.
