EP Review: Elessar – It’s Not That Deep (Self Released)
Pop-rock band Elessar are poised to release the culmination of their efforts this year and the first EP to have been released by the group in 4 years! It’s Not That Deep will be released on October 7th, 2022.
Catchy pop-rock and alternative class, Elessar come out hot with the foot-tapping groove monster that is Vices. The melodies, the beat, the chorus… everything about this song is designed to get a dance floor moving and it will.
The Fall follows and sees Elessar keep things deliciously catchy, mixing the old with the new nicely. Before Gold brings energised groove and a powerful chorus, one that everyone will want to sing along too. Yet, it’s the playful guitar in the verses that really stand out.
Awesome sounding synth introduces You & I. The peppy beat that takes over, confirming this one as a hugely appealing hit. One of the EP’s most exciting tracks. The return of that synth later in the track, a moment of genius. Less interesting but still delightfully catchy, Mi Amore sees Elessar keep the momentum going. Leading into the finale of Lovesick and possibly the most powerful track overall. It’s certainly got some the heaviest moments but also takes inspiration from modern trap while, once again, delivering a chorus that is pop-rock gold.
This is going to be a popular EP. The wide-ranging appeal, undeniable.
