Band Interview: Bevar Sea
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with rock and metal band, Bevar Sea.
1. How did you get started as a band?
Hey there, thanks for having us. The band was formed in 2008 by Srikanth Panaman. Initially it was a bedroom project, as with most bands I guess but things moved forward when we dropped our self-titled debut album ‘Bevar Sea’ in 2011. The album was mixed by none other than the legendary Billy Anderson and received rave reviews across the globe, especially in the stoner doom circles. That’s pretty much how we kicked off.
2. How would you describe your sound?
Our influences range between 70s rock and traditional 80s heavy metal and that kind of comes out with our sound in a unique way. We’ve got our roots planted in doom (Sabbath, Candlemass, Cathedral, Orange Goblin, etc.) but we kind of like to shift things around in terms of the sound with every album based on what we hear and like and that’s what’s brought variety to our albums till date.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
Black Sabbath, Candlemass, Cathedral, Orange Goblin, Spiritual Beggars, Deep Purple, and whole ton of other artists.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
The exposure could be good, but it does hinder your revenue overall as compared to physical sales.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Travel and hit the local bars of course, but more importantly take care of our families. You could say we get inspired while doing the aforementioned.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We just dropped our third studio album ‘The Timeless Zone’. We worked our butts off to release this so check it out while you can guys. We’re excited with what we’ve been able to put together. We wanna tour asap – Europe, maybe North America, but that plan is still in draft mode. Hopefully we’ll catch a few or many flights in 2023. What we’re sure of now is that we’re going to sit together in a few months and start writing our fourth studio album.
