1. How did you get started as a band?

Chris (Dennett, Vocals and Guitar): I started the band in 2014, I had songs written that didn’t gel with the pop punk band I was in at the time, as they were much darker and aggressive. I had grand visions and aspirations from the start: from the name to the art, to the message. I was aiming to be Leeds biggest small band… When we can use them, we have a few backdrop videos made for our live sets, they generally involve some atomic bomb themes and my obsession with UFO’s and space.

Rob (Burns, Bass and Vocals): I joined the band around 2016 after their initial bass player left. I have one simple mission; I just want to get as many inappropriate bass fills into as many songs as often as possible.

2. How would you describe your sound?

Rob: Straight up, with a twist.

Sam (Moran, Guitar and Vocals): Fuzzy, noisy, punky boys.

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

Rob: The band used to be more skate and pop punk orientated but I think we’ve all outgrown it and it looks a bit sus a bunch of 30-somethings trying to sing songs about how girls don’t understand you and high school sucks. So, with that in mind we pivoted to alternative rock as we all love stuff like Smashing Pumpkins and Reuben and added a healthy dose of post-hardcore as well as it gives us an excuse to scream our heads off and mosh.

Sam: I think we put out a delectable little mix from the different influences we all have. Like Rob says the band was originally way more pop punk, and there are still elements of that in some of our songs. We’re all kids of the 90’s and 00’s, so the grunge influence runs through all our veins.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

Rob: Both. On the one hand the band is being heard in the far-flung corners of the globe which is incredible when you stop to think about it. Of course, it also means we’re fighting for eyeballs against millions of other acts all the time so it can be incredibly daunting. I think we have a strong visual identity now so when people do stumble across our YouTube channel, they’re generally more impressed that repulsed! All credit to Jim at www.fragileart.co.uk for that.

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

Rob: Sleeping, eating, building a small fort. Normal things, innocent things.

Sam: completely normal human stuff. Smoking meats, etc.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

Rob: Our most recent single is only a couple of weeks old so we’re giving that some breathing room first before our next release which is looking to be the end of July. Our debut EP is following that in August. Then we’ll be back to gigging as much as possible to support that!
