Band Interview: Stinkbrute
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with slam/death/grind metal band, Stinkbrute.
1. How did you get started as a band?
The band started at the end of 2020 as a bit of a joke, with me, Bernardo Rebelo. I composed and recorded the first half of the album as an EP. At the time my idea was to write the most gruesome Death Metal/Grindcore I could with the most ridiculous name I came up with in the moment and it was “Stinkbrute, The Gruesome Exchange of Bodily Fluids That Turned Into a Bile Duct Titan”, later I decided to stick with just “Stinkbrute” and the rest for the name of the first album.
2. How would you describe your sound?
My sound would be a mix between Death Metal and Grindcore but with the twist that I really don’t care about subgenres as long as it is heavy. Some songs may be more grindcore as others may be pure slam.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
For Stinkbrute, I would say that the main influences are Analepsy, Napalm Death and Wormrot.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
I can’t say because I wasn’t around before YouTube and Streaming being a thing, since I started making music, Streaming and all that were already very big so I mostly don’t even do physical copies. But in general I think it helps to spread the music to more people.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
When not making music I usually play games, watch anime and read manga.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
For the future I am working on a few splits, an album and hopefully some concerts!
