Album Review: Cryptworm – Spewing Mephitic Putridity (Me Saco Un Ojo Records/Pulverised Records)
The filthiest sewers of England have sprung a new fetid leak in the form of Cryptworm’s debut full-length, entitled ‘Spewing Mephitic Putridity’. Me Saco Un Ojo Records and Pulverised Records have teamed up to unleash it on March 11th, 2022.
Regurgitating a familiar style of gnarly and guttural death metal, Cryptworm’s new album is the foul stuff you scrap off the bottom of your shoes after you traipsed through a dank and dark cesspit. The congealed slime and stench of rot is enough to make you gag.
It’s the kind of description that almost sounds like an insult but is actually high praise. This album is filth, designed to be this way and the fact it makes you feel so grimy, shows that Cryptworm have accomplished their task.
They are the slithering and sucking darkness that crawls out from below. The reason the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. The reason why you huddle for warmth in the dead of night. More importantly though, they are the reason your guts are rumbling, your head is filled with the buzzing of corpse-drunk flies and your body is jerking as though possessed.
Filthy, urgent, and sickening death metal. Cryptworm aren’t going to set the world alight with Spewing Mephitic Putridity. Instead, they’re going to drown it in a tidal wave of foul and putrid expulsions.
