Album Review: The Last Vinci – The Revolution is Made Together (Narrow Door Records)

Irish alternative stoner trio The Last Vinci are proud to present their new LP The Revolution is Made Together, due 4th March via Narrow Door Records. Each song of The Revolution is Made Together talks about the concept of “together”, taken from different angles and points of view.

The concept of togetherness is even more important following the last few years of global issues. Issues that, unfortunately, continue to prove to be rampant across the world even as The Last Vinci get ready to release this new album.

The 3-piece that is The Last Vinci have taken a collaborative direction with The Revolution is Made Together. Working with artists they have shared the stage with over previous years. A literal example of the concept that runs through this album.

The result is an album that oozes passion and credibility. A believable blast of energetic alternative rock with heavier detail and extensive, imaginative brilliance. From the groovy catchiness of the anthemic opener that is Glitter Slaughterhouse. To the vibrant heaviness and powerful melodic tones of In the Name of Ezra and thoughtfulness of Falling from a Mountain of Joy. A track that centres on that missing piece in our heart – despite that, when we have everything we need, we keep falling from a mountain of joy, and we don’t know why. A very impactful message and one sure to connect with many.

The blistering energy and fast-paced near-spoken word style of vocals slams into a chorus that is anthemic as hell on Gallow. Before the halfway point of the album is reached with the ticking clock and eclectic rhythm of You’ll Get Your Turn.

So far, so unique and so memorable. The Last Vinci are aiming for an album that resonates with a wide audience and off the back of the first half, they’re nailing it.

E.C.C. is punchy stoner power with a nice bit of fuzz on the guitars, Skeptical is another in a long line of catchy rock-heavy tracks, Adding Water to the Ocean then pushes the eclectic nature of the record to extremes before Fuzzy, Weak, Fat, Old Friend does some grandstanding in the most rhythmically pleasing way possible. A varied and exciting collection of tracks that continue to showcase just how important the theme of togetherness is.

Although The Last Vinci aren’t quite done yet. Choosing to go out with something of an epic, The Only Revolution is Being Together is a slow-moving listen but one that exudes poise and really erupts into fuzzy heaviness as it goes on. A shifting pattern and continued varied soundscape makes this a powerful closer and confirmation that the revolution has succeeded.
