MLB The Show 22 Beta

Good news for MLB the Show fans, the Beta is here and starts today. For the first time ever, the beta is going to be released for everyone to play and try out. In years past, players would have to sign up for the beta, and then San Diego Studios would select a number of players to get to test out the game to check for any bugs. This year, everyone is getting that opportunity which has a lot of people excited about the state of the game.

While the start of baseball looks to be in jeopardy and march madness predictions are not quite ready to be rolled out, a chance to play a new game early is exactly what gamers need.

Nintendo Switch

MLB the Show 21 was the first game that included XBOX players. Up until 2021, MLB the Show was a Playstation exclusive.

While there were a few bugs at the start, it seemed like as the year went on the game was much smoother. Xbox players were obviously very happy as MLB the Show is the only licensed MLB game on the market.

For the first time this year, MLB the Show will be available on the Nintendo Switch. Without knowing what the game will look like on the handheld device, getting more players involved with the game is always great.

2v2 and 3v3

Ranked seasons has always been the most competitive mode on MLB the Show when it came to online play. The head-to-head game mode allowed players to take their diamond dynasty teams into contests with other players and compete in a nine-inning game where their records and statistics were tracked.

New this year is the incorporation of 2v2 and 3v3. Games such as Madden and NBA 2K all have modes where players can link up with their friends and play on the same team and compete against other groups of players.

This will be the first time MLB has tried to include a game mode involving parties. While it is still unknown what this mode is going to look like, looking at the responses online, players are very excited to try out this mode.

If someone were going to try to guess how this would work, it would seem like one player would be responsible for pitching, while the other player would be in control of the fielding. This would more than likely switch every inning so that each player gets to do both.

Hitting would probably switch between users for each at-bat. Teams will consist of players from both diamond dynasty teams, which is beneficial if a player does not have as many players as their friend that they are playing with.

Overall

There is a lot of anticipation for this title to be released. MLB the Show 21 went through several different updates and gameplay felt like a rollercoaster at times.

Obviously, with the pandemic really hitting hard at the beginning of the last title, there were several issues that the studio struggled to deal with because of their inability to get into the office.

One of the big concerns is still the amount of freeze-offs that are happening. In MLB the Show 21, there were certain things that would trigger the game to freeze.

For the casual player, this was not a big deal, as they would just restart their consoles and be okay with taking the loss. For competitive players, however, taking that loss was something they did not want, since the game had not officially ended.

Also, new legends are slowly being introduced which has players excited. So far there have been four players named, Randy Johnson, Justin Morneau, Joe Mauer, and Ryan Howard.

Hopefully, players will take advantage of playing the beta and can give good feedback. If players find bugs or things wrong with the game, reports can be sent to https://forums.theshow.com/ where there is a tab for any issues players find while playing.
