EP Review: Tormentor Tyrant – Tormentor Tyrant (Everlasting Spew Records)

There might be a dozen ‘Tormentors’ and twice as many ‘Tyrants’ but there is only ONE Tormentor Tyrant! An ageless entity of evil that feeds on the endless suffering of the whole of humanity. Featuring members from Corpsessed, Solothus, Tyranny, Profetus and Cataleptic, the Finnish trio debuts with a thrashing and grinding EP of furious and primordial death metal. Out on January 28th, 2022 via Everlasting Spew Records.

There’s no frills to Tormentor Tyrant. They promise an EP packed with crunchy and chunky death metal and that is what they deliver. A harsh, hard and heavy sound from a band made up of members well-versed in extreme metal. It promises hate, horror and hideous noise and it delivers on all of that.

Five blistering blasts of fury that is akin to a 2×4 being wrapped around the skull. Tormentor Tyrant are unashamed in how they stick to the traditions of death metal on this EP. For good reason too as the talent behind this release know exactly how to deliver a punishment that will leave all who experience it aching for days afterwards.

That such brutality is condensed into around 17-minutes is even more eye-watering.

There’s not a lot more to say. It’s going to beat your ass and if you like death metal, you’re going to enjoy every second of that.
