My Favourite Video Game Featuring: Sell Yourself Short
My Favourite Video Game is a guest feature from bands and artists where we set them a simple task… tell us about your favourite video game. In this feature, vocalist/guitarist Mark Siedlecki of alt-rock/punk band, Sell Yourself Short took up the mantle, and you can read all about their choice below.
Metal Gear Solid.
I still remember the first time I played this game I was in 7th grade at 12 years old. It was a sleepover party at a friend’s house and he busted out the first Metal Gear Solid for Playstation.
We literally spent the entire night playing it until the sun came up and the whole mood and atmosphere hooked me. From the stealth gameplay to the awesome storyline I had never experienced any game that pulled me in this much. Solid Snake was an awesome action movie type hero and was surrounded by a cast of interesting and creepy characters that really invested you in what was happening throughout the game.
I remember being actually scared when entering the hallway that the Cyborg Ninja brutally murdered all the soldiers in leaving pools of blood everywhere. Psycho Mantis, this radical deranged telekinetic monster in a gas mask, also genuinely creeped me the hell out.
We never did beat the game that first night so I nagged my mom forever to buy it for me so I could finish it.
For better or worse my Mom was cool and didn’t even think about it being a mature rated game and me being only 12. To this day when the first snowfall of the Winter comes, I feel compelled to take the trip back to the Fox Archipelago in Alaska and relive that adventure.
