1. How did you get started as a band?

Fire the Humans is a solo project I started as a creative outlet. I’ve always been in bands but had a sound and direction I still needed to fulfil. I was searching outside of my comfort zone. I wanted something that went against everything I’ve done before, so I decided to carve this path alone. Obviously, bringing in above average talented people around me to help make this a next level sound. It’s working and seems to be great things to come. Fire the Humans is the fish that swims upstream. Some will understand it, some won’t. That’s the beauty in art.

2. How would you describe your sound?

Having a very eclectic and diverse love for music, Fire the Humans became a culmination of a variety of influences. Soulful vocal feeling and rasp similar to Rival Sons, mixed with the pop undertones of artists like OneRepublic, topped with a falsetto that you might hear from Teddy Swims.

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

I’m influenced by artists that are unapologetic about being themselves. From Prince to Blue October to Rival Sons. I like the fish that swims upstream.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

I both love and hate it. I love the platforms of YouTube, Spotify, iTunes etc. for the obvious reasons. I have access to a world of music I would normally not have access to. However, there is a respect I have for the previous way we heard music. It took effort and that made us have skin in the game, so to speak. With skin in the game, we were now fully invested in the relationship of artist and fan. Now fans can simply take it or leave it. No romance.

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

Spending time with my family. They’re everything to me and I’d be lost without them.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

“Can’t Stop” is the new single that dropped worldwide on 11/26/21. This song is amazing to me and took months to complete. A lot went into this song. Emotionally, physically, financially. It truly is an amazing song that everyone can relate to. There’s a discomfort in looking back in a relationship you messed up. Admitting you’re wrong and wishing they’d come back. This is definitely a song everyone can relate to.
