Emerging in the early 90’s, death metal band Detest weren’t around for too long before splitting up. 18 years later; some live shows, the recruitment of new members via guitar player John Petersen and an EP in 2019 has led to this. They’re back as older and wiser musicians. Their new album ‘We Will Get What We Deserve’ reflects who they have become and what they’ve learned along the way.

We Will Get What We Deserve will be released by Emanzipation Productions in CD, LP and digital formats on December 10th, 2021.

Detest is hungry, you can feel the beast is well and truly stirring here. Razor sharp jaws, eyes that burn through your soul and a terrifying, rumbling stomach. This is primal death metal and it cuts through the fugue of modern life like teeth through soft flesh. You’ll wake from your stupor screaming for mercy.

An 11-track blast of heavy in the most straight-forward way, Detest may not be re-inventing the death metal wheel here but they are certainly setting it aflame and sending it careening into the waiting crowds.

Screams of horror pain and suffering? Or are they screams of pleasure as Detest stand imposingly over the chaos they have created? From beginning to end, We Will Get What We Deserve hammers away. It’s a pummelling release filled with aggression and violence. From cauterising guitar riffing, coarse hooks and screeching soloing to bone-crushing drumming, and vocals that sound dredged from the darkest corners of hell, this album does what extreme metal should.

It leaves you exhausted, in pain but very satisfied. Detest have proven without a shadow of a doubt that they belong in the modern world of music. Even if their brand of death metal is rooted in a more old-school sound.
