Album Review: Sonoroum – Anthems for a Disgruntled Mind (Self Released)
Hailing from South Texas, USA, Sonoroum is a groove and thrash one-man metal band who recently released the full-length album, Anthems for a Disgruntled Mind.
A bit of groove inspired by the likes of Pantera and Lamb of God? A bit of thrash inspired by the likes early Metallica and Slayer? You have our attention, Sonoroum.
No frills metal, Sonoroum joins the ranks of the one-man bands putting out genuinely impressive content. Here, we get 10-tracks of furious, fast, and frenzied head-banging noise. 10 reasons to lose you shit, throw your horns in the air and just smash your neck muscles into dust.
Angular and buzzsaw riffing, sharp and flesh-tearing hooks, percussion that batters away, and vocals that demand your attention. It’s a raw sound, which considering the style of music, is very fitting. There’s also an immeasurable amount of talent here so nothing ever feels forced.
With an urgency that never really drops and some really cool variety in tone, Sonoroum blast through killer tracks like Rise of Goliath, Warm Baretta (a personal favourite), Shotgun Blast to the Head and Kamikaze. Just four excellent and different offerings on an album that betrays the ‘one-man band’ stigma.
Shit this good is worth praising and we can just hope Sonoroum is more than a ‘one and done’ band.
