Game Review: Traffic Cop 3D (Mobile – Free to Play)

Feeling very familiar, Traffic Cop 3D comes from prolific free to play developer Kwalee and sets you the task of being the best traffic cop on the road. Scan number plates, check their details and records, pull them over and decide the best course of action. Let them go, fine them or arrest them. The latter, used for the most extreme events such as when they have been involved in an accident or are driving without insurance. Every so often, you’ll get to chase down a criminal too!

It’s kind of fun for all of five minutes, as is often the case with Kwalee created free to play offerings. After those five minutes? Well, it’s repetitive and limited gameplay with basic skin variations for your vehicle to buy.

Sure you can change the lights on the top of your police car or change out the tyres but it doesn’t make any difference to gameplay. That’s not exactly a a surprise, but the limiting amount of things to buy is. Not only that, earning money is hilariously simple with you getting rewarded regardless of your performance. Pull over an ambulance on route to hospital with a dying person in the back and arrest the driver? Congratulations! Here’s your pay. Oh the game will suggest you did a poor job but there’s no punishment at all.

Who cares though, right? It’s a free to play game and these limitations are now the norm. Just stick your device on airplane mode to get around the ad-spam and wile away a 10-minute bus or train journey. Well, we have bad news for you. Kwalee has made it so the game will stop working almost immediately if there is no internet connection.

So now you have a choice. Put up with ads after almost every event (which last around 30-60 seconds) or just delete the game and pretend it never existed. Can you guess which one we recommend?
