Band Interview: Ninebanks
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with pop-punk band, Ninebanks.
1. How did you get started as a band started?
We started up April 2021 when drummer jack got in touch with callum to start a pop punk band, callum knew jack woods from a previous band and knew he had the talent and song writing for pop punk so the main core of the band was sorted. We later asked Lewis to join who is a long time friend of Callum’s, we had our first practice in April then NINEBANKS was born.
2. How would you describe your sound?
We would describe our sound old school pop punk which we we grew up to back in the 2000era.
We like to keep our songs catchy and uptempo! We like having that radio friendly commercial sound. We don’t look to much on how technical the music is but more how catchy and what the meaning is behind the song.
3. What bands/artist would you say have influenced your style of music?
Going back to our sound we would say a lot of the old school pop punk: All time low, blink 182, fall out boy, motion city soundtrack, green day and sum 41 .
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered your band?
There is certainly a lot of benefits being able to get your music out there without having a label. The likes of you tube Spotify and Apple Music can help promote your track without looking at big PR campaigns so we are fully for it all. Suppose the only disadvantage is having scouts come and watch you live. Thanks to the internet you can upload a track and have it heard where back in the day you would have to play gigs to get your name heard and hopefully have labels come and watch you perform.
5. What do you enjoy doing when not making music?
We like to try and keep active we have a lot of Interest from playing handball to doing motorcross. We also like sports and can catch us at football games, especially Sunderland matches…sadly haha we also spend a lot of time playing on our game consoles and can catch us in verdansk alot playing warzone.
6. What are your future plans musically?
We only started out in April and released our first track “Innocent”’which has been a great success getting some radio airtime aswelll as being added on plenty of Spotify playlists. Our next aim is to get another track out which will be done in December called “little silver”and to hopefully cement our name in the pop punk scene . Next year we wouldn’t mind getting out on the road hopefully supporting a well established band. And hopefully record a EP under a label.
