Artist Interview: King Fabbs
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with modern day pop-punk artist, King Fabbs.
1. How did you get started as a band?
I spent some time searching around for other musicians to start a band and I was not finding much success with that. I just ended up doing a lot of thinking and thought that it would be best for me to pursue a solo career. I made this decision in early 2020 and it was the right one! It feels great to express my creative abilities and have it all come to life!
2. How would you describe your sound?
I’d say my sound is like a mix of early 2000’s and modern day pop punk. I really love seeing that pop punk music is gaining popularity again with artists like Machine Gun Kelly and Willow Smith making it a big thing again! I love this style of music and I intend to keep rolling with it!
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
There are so many bands that constantly inspire me. Some of my favourites are All Time Low, Slipknot, Green Day, State Champs, Paramore, Marianas Trench, Linkin Park, Seaway, Alessia Cara, Hot Milk, Stand Atlantic, Twenty-One Pilots, The Story so Far, and so many more! I do listen to a lot of artists in multiple different genres, but these artists really fuel my drive!
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
I’m only really getting this journey started so it’s hard to say if it’s doing me any good or not at the moment. I’m sure that both YouTube and music streaming will come to my advantage one day!
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
I love spending time with friends, going to hockey and lacrosse games, grabbing a drink at a pub, getting bubble tea, and going for walks around my neighbourhood.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
I will be releasing a single in a couple of months, I do not have a set date but more details will be coming in a few weeks! I’m also playing a show a local venue called ContainR here in Calgary on August 28th, 2021! I will be performing my EP as well as a cover of Sugar We’re Goin Down by Fall Out Boy! I hope to be able to go on a tour in the near future!
