Band Interview: Prospect
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with hard rock band, Prospect.
1. How did you get started as a band?
The band was started as a project in a town named Steinkjer in Trøndelag. Kenneth was originally a drummer, but was getting sick and tired of looking for vocalists; so he became one himself. The band went through various phases and genres. Eventually we became an energetic hard rock band, even though every member used to be a metal head (and still is at heart).
We had a few changes in the roster, but now we feel like we’re a big family.
2. How would you describe your sound?
Energetic is often the first word that comes to mind when people describe us, and we agree. We like to combine old school and modern rock ‘n’ roll, with our own little twist on it. We try to make music that’s catchy, groovy, and makes you want to move and sing along. Basically music that you can feel throughout your whole body, and let’s you break free for a little while.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
We take inspiration from lots of places, but mainly from bands such as AC/DC, Airbourne, Guns n’ Roses, Mötley Crüe, Skid Row, Slash and so on.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
It has definitely helped us with reaching out to different places around the world. Sure, there isn’t a lot of money in the picture. But without the help of the internet and streaming, our music would span far less. And we try to use it to our advantage.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Usually when we’re not playing music, we’re listening to it. Exploring genres, listening to new bands or artists. It’s truly amazing how many great musicians there’s out there. Also, we all have our little hobbies, side projects, jobs, homes to take care of. But we all really enjoy getting together to drink beer and have a good time!
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We have an album coming out on August 13th called ‘All Bet Are Off’. The day after the album drops, we’re hosting a release concert on one of the most famous stages in Trondheim; Rockheim. We’re super excited with this album, and can’t wait for it to drop! After that, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see \m/
