EP Review: Cemetery Echo – Come Share my Shroud (Petrichor)

Cemetery Echo was invoked through the festering remains of metal bands passed, stuffed to the fangs with 80’s goth attitude, ceremoniously stitched together with silken strands of spookhouse spiderwebs, and summoned back to life through mysterious funerary incantations from ancient tomes of the undead. Re-animated in 2019, the Buffalo, NY act crept to life and formulated their debut EP “Come Share My Shroud”, which was unearthed the following year. With a hunger that is never satisfied, these ghoulish specters are currently residing in their crypts, unrestfully conjuring more tales of horrifying dread to unleash upon the earth…

Petrichor will be releasing the EP on CD/Vinyl on August 20th, 2021.

Macabre goth/death n’ roll, you can smell the stench of long dead flesh the very moment the intro of Beneath the Crypts is cracked open. Extremely horror-infused and extremely eerie, it leads to something extremely goth with the title track. The vibes are so very ‘underground sexy club’ but Cemetery Echo make sure to show just what makes them different from every other goth revival wannabes with an increasing instrumental tempo and an ever-growing snarl to the vocals.

We then get Youth Disease’s echoing melody and tight rhythm playing off the darker shade of clean singing which is backed up by guttural growls. Before the super-gothic, horror-tinged and moving melodies of Transylvanian Moon wraps up a fun and unique sounding EP in style.
