Album Review: Cesspool Of Corruption – Requiems Of The Ignominious (Gore House Productions)

Cesspool of Corruption are a young death metal band from Texas homing in on their own particular brand of death that is both fast and technical without ever sacrificing brutality and flow. Requiems of The Ignominious is their debut album and it will be released on August 6th 2021 via Gore House Productions.

For our newest release, Requiems of The Ignominious, we felt we wanted to push the envelope a little further this time around. We wanted to showcase what we felt was a clear evolution of our already existing sound beyond its initial form from the EP. We wanted to expand on everything a little further, incorporate new ideas, and further refine a sound and approach that we feel will help become instantly identifiable with Cesspool of Corruption. Some of the songs are a bit older still, and somewhat are more directly akin to the EP era a bit. We kept these as we felt the transition and progress was tracked better as the album moves toward songs that are more recently written and constructed within the last few years. As far as conceptually, we further explore various tales relating to misanthropy and the darker sides of humanity, as well as how the human condition is affected by everything around us, however seen or unseen. Each song is essentially a very loose story about something in our society. Whether it be the inevitability of death, manipulation of our lives that remains unseen, or instances of man’s reach exceeding his grasp. We did start to move some of the subject matter into somewhat of a more horror style approach on a few tracks to shift into a different type of dynamic lyrically speaking.

A blistering death and tech-death album, Cesspool of Corruption are making the statement that they can’t be ignored on this one. Even in a genre of metal that has its fair share of new and old bands. After all, there’s always room for one more when they’re doing it as well as Cesspool of Corruption are.

From the buzz saw riffs that cleave through flesh, the bass hooks that rip skin and the technical grind that makes bones ache to the violent hammering of the drums, fast and powerful enough to cause concussions. This is violent, aggressive and ferocious noise that will have all fans of extreme salivating.

With such a proclivity for viciousness, Requiems of the Ignominious engulfs the senses and there are very few chances to re-configure. It’s one track after another of weaponised, hard-hitting and durable metal noise. With more than enough ‘extras’ thrown in to get the attention of those who maybe steer clear of the extreme side of metal.

Modern sounding, very clever at times, straight-forward and punchy at others… Requiems of the Ignominious is a head-turner, that’s for sure.
