Album Review: Against Evil – End of the Line (Doc Gator Records/Self Released)
Against Evil is a heavy metal band from the city of Visakhapatnam (India), formed in 2014. Combining traditional heavy metal, power metal and speed metal with a modern sound, the band’s music can be described as adrenaline inducing, fist pumping, bone crushing, anthemic metal!
The band released two albums – ‘Fatal Assault’ in 2015 and ‘All Hail the King’ in 2018 which were met with great critical acclaim. After the release of their album ‘All Hail the King’, the band started to gain a solid fan base worldwide, especially in Europe among fans of traditional heavy metal, power metal and thrash metal which led to the collaboration with German/Swiss-based record label Doc Gator Records who later released the album in Europe.
On the 14th May, 2021, Against Evil will unleashed their latest offering. Entitled ‘End of the Line’, it will be released via Doc Gator Records in Europe and independently the rest of the world.
India sure does produce some great metal music, though often weighted towards the death/extreme metal side of things. It’s refreshing to see a ‘classic’ style of heavy metal come from the country, especially something as strong and popular as Against Evil.
This album will only increase that popularity too as it is a good old-fashioned head-banger. From punchy riffing and energetic thump of The Sound of Violence to the frantic snarl and pace of the title track to the no-nonsense heavy metal hit that is Fearless. Track after track of impressive riffing, intense soloing, punchy percussion and snarling vocals.
The quality of End of the Line and the passionate display Against Evil puts on more than makes up for the lack of surprises. It’s that classic thing in metal… who cares if we’ve heard all this before if it’s done so damn well? Against Evil do it so damn well.
Liable to give you neck ache through the sheer demand that you head-bang yourself silly. Speed Demon is a great example of just how much energy and passion is behind this album but watch out for the bass tricky of the legendary Billy Sheehan on Out for Blood.
End of the Line is certainly going to help Against Evil’s climb towards world domination.
