13 Days of Halloween: Horror Short Review: Pumpkin Man (2021)
Pumpkin Man watches over all the carved pumpkins. On Halloween night, he carries their spirits away to the Underworld. If you smash a Jack ’o’ Lantern before midnight on All Hallows’ Eve, then the Pumpkin Man will take you away in its place.
This is the premise for ACMofficial’s Halloween horror short, Pumpkin Man. A short written and directed by Alex Magaña and starring Brooklyn Robinson, Noelani Pese, Milla Kessler and Rodney Brewster III.
Three teenage girls are out on All Hallows’ Eve causing a little mayhem in their neighbourhood using eggs and toilet paper. After one gives the others a bit of scare, the tale of Pumpkin Man is retold. Of course, that’s just a silly story, so the other two decide to smash the pumpkins they stole.

A fun short with strong Halloween tones, Pumpkin Man is classic horror 101. Create a monster, give it a nonsensical reason to exist, throw in some disbelieving humans and let the mayhem ensue. In just three minutes, Pumpkin Man embodies all of this and delivers an entertaining and spooky Halloween horror short.
