American metal band, and thrash pioneers, Metal Church are returning to the UK in June this year. The tour is in support of their well received 2016 release, XI. XI, released via Nuclear Blast, was Metal Church’s 11th studio album. They have never quite had the same level of commercial success as some of their other thrash counterparts. They were even once label mates with Metallica. What they have done though is garner a strong army of fans and release consistently strong metal since their debut, Metal Church, in 1984.
It hasn’t always been easy for them. They have been through numerous line up changes and have even disbanded a couple of times in their career. They keep coming back though and, importantly, when they do, they come back with a quality heavy metal album.
Exceptionally gifted guitarist, Kurdt Vanderhoof, is still standing as the only original member left. He is joined by long term vocalist Mike Howe and drummer Jeff Plate. Steve Unger is on bass duties and Rick Van Zandt is also on guitar duties.
Metal Church will visit five cities on five dates near the end of June in a real energetic, old school fest of big thrash metal. Check out the dates below –
Support will be announced soon.
Kurdt Vanderhoof released the following with the tour dates – “The Metal Church fans over there have always welcomed us with open arms and their passion and love for Heavy Metal music is second to none”.
